Rolex introduced the Datejust II in 2009 in Rolesor, steel paired with gold, with a fluted bezel and an Oyster bracelet. Inside was calibre 3136, with a Parachrom hairspring and Paraflex shock absorbers. SJX wrote that the larger case and dial tweaks made it look a lot more contemporary than the 36mm model.
On 5 July 2009 Roger Federer beat Andy Roddick in a five-set Wimbledon final and broke Pete Sampras' record of Grand Slam titles. He held up the trophy wearing a Datejust II and later said that whenever he looks at the watch he remembers that day vividly.
At Baselworld 2012 Rolex added ref. 116300, the first Datejust II entirely in steel, with a smooth bezel, large luminous baton indices and the Oyster bracelet with Easylink extension. SJX called it probably the most important Rolex launch of that year, because it brought the price down.
The golfer held up the Travelers Championship trophy in Connecticut wearing a Datejust II Fluted Black Roman ref. 116334-0002, with a charcoal Roman numeral dial and 18k white gold fluted bezel.
In 2009 Federer won his 15th Grand Slam title and wore a Datejust II at the trophy ceremony. He recalled that Sampras, Borg and Laver were all there to greet him.
SJX predicted Rolex might sell more steel 116300s than all of its new 2012 sports models put together.
Seventeen years after the 2009 final, Federer brought a Datejust II back to Wimbledon, the place he wore it for his record-breaking win.

Kept the 41mm diameter but slimmed the case, bezel and lugs and moved to calibre 3235 with about 70 hours of reserve.
Where the Datejust II came only on an Oyster bracelet, the Datejust 41 added the Jubilee option.

Most watches use spring bars, so any strap of the right width fits. Many smartwatches use their own band system instead, such as Apple Watch bands or Garmin QuickFit.
