The story · Since 2015
Seiko Selection is a broad Seiko range built, in Seiko's words, for people who weigh function, quality and design together. Its quiet stars are 39.5 mm solar radio-controlled watches with sapphire crystals.

In 2015 Seiko and the Japanese clothing retailer nano.universe released six limited automatic watches, then filed under Seiko's Spirit line. By 2017 the partnership was on its fourth collaboration, a remake of the slim 1980s Seiko Chariot in 33 mm and 37.5 mm cases on the 7N01 quartz calibre.
Seiko started its Eternal Blue limited editions in 2016 and, from 2018, ran them as a cross-brand series meant to bring happiness to everyone who wears them. Seiko Selection takes part with pair models, such as the 2024 set inspired by the Tanabata night sky.
The SBTM solar radio-controlled watches became the line's backbone: a 39.5 mm case, 9.5 mm thick, sapphire with Super Clear coating, and calibres that sync with time signals from Japan, China, the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom. The pure titanium versions with Dia Shield coating weigh 72.0 g against 115.0 g for steel.
Seiko now groups the line into the S Series of trend-proof standard designs, The Steady, built around a watch you want to wear every day including weekends, and the nano.universe Special Edition supervised by the retailer. A share of Seiko Selection sales goes to the Ashinaga scholarship foundation.
2024. For the 2024 Eternal Blue editions, Seiko set enlarged markers at 4, 8 and 11 o'clock to stand for Altair, Deneb and Vega, so the summer triangle of the Tanabata legend appears on the dial. Boxes drawn by the illustrator mocha complete one picture when the two pair boxes stand side by side.

Seiko gives a maximum wrist length of 210.0 mm for SBTM287 and 203.0 mm for SBTM329, both with a one-push three-fold clasp. The steel S Series SBTM323 bracelet reaches 195.0 mm.
