The Venezianico story
- 2017 Founded in San Dona di Piave (metropolitan city of Venice), Italy by Alberto Morelli and Alessandro Morelli.
- 2017 The brothers launched the brand on Kickstarter as Meccaniche Veneziane; across three crowdfunding rounds they raised more than 800,000 US dollars.
- 2018 The Nereide GMT, a Swiss-made GMT in red and blue Pepsi colours with an ETA 2893-2 movement, reached full funding on Kickstarter within 30 seconds of launch and became the most successful Italian project on the site, with backers pledging 170,000 euros.
- 2024 Venezianico opened its Atelier, a 500 square metre workshop and boutique in the restored Palazzo Baradel in San Dona di Piave, the town where the Morelli brothers were born.
- 2025 After more than two years of development, Venezianico presented the V5000, its first proprietary hand-wound calibre, made in Italy by OISA and designed by Fausto Berizzi (formerly of Frederic Piguet, Lemania and Vaucher) with Andrea Menegazzo. It debuted in the 38 mm Redentore Utopia, 100 numbered pieces that sold online in seven minutes.
- 2025 As official sponsor of the 2025 Regata Storica in Venice, Venezianico made the Nereide Regata Storica 2025 Special Edition, two pieces with a light blue dial and an engraved caseback, presented by co-founder Alessandro Morelli to the two winning rowers of the Gondolini Uomini race.
- 2026 The Redentore Utopia II followed with the V5001 calibre, an evolution of the V5000 with gold-galvanised bridges, and a hand-engraved Marea guilloche dial made by Atelier Renzetti on 19th-century rose engines.
Firsts and innovations
2025. The maker calls the V5000 its first calibre designed and built in Italy, from a registered proprietary design (no. 402025000000420); it is a first for the brand, not a claim of an industry first.
