The story of the Omega Speedmaster '57
Omega built the Speedmaster '57 around the straight lugs, bare crown and steel tachymeter bezel of the first 1957 Speedmaster, then in 2022 gave it a hand-wound movement that made it thinner than the Moonwatch, at 12.99 mm.

- 2013 to 2014 Modern engine, vintage silhouette Omega unveiled the Speedmaster '57 Co-Axial at Baselworld 2013 with a 41.5 mm symmetrical case and straight lugs.
- 2015 to 2021 Broad Arrows come home At Baselworld 2015 Omega corrected what collectors had criticised, fitting Broad Arrow hands and recessed markers filled with Vintage Super-LumiNova (ref. 331.10.42.51.01.002).
- 2022 to today Hand-wound, slimmer, in colour For the Speedmaster's 65th anniversary Omega rebuilt the line at 40.5 mm and 12.99 mm thick around the hand-wound Master Chronometer calibre 9906.

The straight-lug original
The first Speedmaster, reference CK2915, arrived in 1957 and was made until 1959. It was conceived for racing drivers, with the tachymeter scale moved from the dial onto a steel bezel, straight lugs and Broad Arrow hands. Every Speedmaster '57 is a modern evocation of this watch, not a replica.
- 2013 to 2014
Modern engine, vintage silhouette
Omega unveiled the Speedmaster '57 Co-Axial at Baselworld 2013 with a 41.5 mm symmetrical case and straight lugs. Inside was the automatic column-wheel calibre 9300, which put the hours and minutes counters on one sub-dial at 3 o'clock. It came in steel, titanium, two-tone and 18k yellow or red gold, with Alpha hands rather than Broad Arrows.
- 2015 to 2021
Broad Arrows come home
At Baselworld 2015 Omega corrected what collectors had criticised, fitting Broad Arrow hands and recessed markers filled with Vintage Super-LumiNova (ref. 331.10.42.51.01.002). The leather version came on a honey-brown Barenia strap. Omega promoted it on a billboard with George Clooney under the line 'George Clooney's Choice'.

Hand-wound, slimmer, in colour
For the Speedmaster's 65th anniversary Omega rebuilt the line at 40.5 mm and 12.99 mm thick around the hand-wound Master Chronometer calibre 9906. The eight steel models offer a black sandwich dial plus blue, green and burgundy, on leather straps or a flat-link bracelet modelled on the 2019 Apollo 11 watch. Water resistance dropped from 100 m on the 2015 model to 50 m.

Long-time Omega ambassador. In 2015 he appeared on Omega billboards wearing the Speedmaster '57 with Broad Arrow hands. In August 2022 he wore the blue-dial 40.5 mm model at Omega's party during the European Masters in Crans-Montana, previewing a campaign in which he drives a vintage car near Lake Como wearing ref. 332.10.41.51.03.001. Campaign and event wear; Clooney said he loved it as 'the epitome of class'.

2022. At the Omega European Masters golf week in Crans-Montana, George Clooney previewed his Speedmaster '57 campaign wearing the blue-dial model, joking that he was not quite as old as the '57, being born in 1961.
2015. Omega ran a giant Sunset Boulevard billboard in Los Angeles showing George Clooney on a classic motorcycle in the desert, wearing the new vintage-dial Speedmaster '57 under the slogan 'George Clooney's Choice'.
